After fairly regular searching on ebay I found a job lot of all sized boglin toys for sale... including a cheeky little Kelloggs gold.

Set up the BIN, for a low price. Kinda feel guilty about that...

Little bit of wear on his sunglasses but I think that's pretty standard as these were clearly just painted yellow moldings.

A very nice addition to my collection that I thought I'd share!

Nice find! I think that may be one of the few I still need. Seems in pretty good condition, that gold paint wears off very, very easily.

And you definitely shouldn't feel guilty about setting up a BIN.

Ha thanks!

I guess sometimes I feel I should tell someoen if they have something worth more than they realise.

Although I did offer £10 (inc postage) which isn't exactly nothing I guess!

Now all I need is the snorkel wearing slime and I'm pretty done! Oh and one or two medievels I think... need to check my list!

Nice find  Annoying how they're just painted though, rather than gold pigmented rubber.

Not sure why you feel even a little guilty hitting the BIN. If people choose to list items without knowing exactly what they are then that's their call. I've picked up figures worth more than a gold Boglin for next to nothing when the seller doesn't know what they have or have listed incorrectly. It's all part of the fun!

Hey Toytoad, I have a spare splash in slime. You wouldn't have a extra splodge would ya? He's the one with slime coming out his ears

it's always a funny one, but ultimately if the person selling is happy with the price you offer then its happy days for everyone!

and like said its all part of the fun :D

i love hunting out things and searching for hidden gems on ebay is a similar feeling to scouring charity shops/car boot sales from the comfort of your own home! (or work :p )

Is there any way of telling it isn't one someone has sprayed gold? That's why I have never bought any

Thanks

Well, you are unlikely to find a legit gold in mint condition. The paint wears off very easily. I'm not sure what kind of paint it is, but it doesn't flake off. It would be hard to fake it, and you'd easily spot a fake in hand I think, although I suppose an auction pic could be indistinct enough to be unable to tell. In all honesty, I've never seen a fake, and I think you are being a bit over-cautious in raising a scenario that is extremely unlikely.

Isn't the underlying plastic a distinct hue anyway?

Plus the patina would be impossible to fake... tiny cracks all over the surface etc

Someone would have to spend more than they are worth to replicate that kind of aging!

It is one of the two I need!

bit late to the party, but I got mine (display pic) from a car boot about a year ago, found it in a random box of toys, not even with any other mini boglins. pretty crazy that it must've just been sat there for 20 years

anyone know what numbers they were limited to?

I recall that the cereal boxes said that the golds were limited to 10,000. Whether that's 10,000 of each sculpt or 10,000 total (ie 1,250 of each sculpt), who knows. Non-golds must number in the millions though.

oh cool, yeah 1250 per sculpt sounds more realistic. I think if it were 10k each, you would see them alot more. Depends how many got binned over the years tho I supose

I saw Tim Clarke posted in the Mini Figure Militia facebook page, I wonder if he knows more about them, or the pink and orange slimes

Many thanks to Strontium Dog for this successful trade, and the second gold for my collection!

In very good condition too :)

Well personally it's been ages since anything interesting has turned up in the world of mini boglins.

I'm still looking for a couple of golds for my collection I think :)

Got this interesting guy in a bundle recently, I had heard about some gold kelloggs Mini Boglins turning green but this is the first I've ever seen of it, anyone got any other examples?
